Homemaking Tip--Carrot Peel Mess

I just figured out a couple of days ago that it's much easier to take the carrot peeler out to the garden and peel the carrots right then and there--flipping the carrot peels all over the ground--than it is to bring them into the kitchen and flip the peels all over the sink.

Then again, I suppose it's easiest to just buy baby carrots and skip the whole mess altogether . . .

  1. But they don't come close to the flavor of the ones from the garden. I think I'll keep peeling.

  2. Yep, I am a skipper rather than a peeler.
    Can't help it. :/

  3. I prefer just scrubbing them really well and calling it good.

  4. Jane,

I made a roast last night and used unpeeled, scrubbed carrots, unpeeled baby potatoes, and peeled:) onions and they were scrumtious. Just tell yourself that you're being more virtuous by keeping on all those vitamin-rich peels for your family. That's why I NEVER peel a potato anymore, even for mashed spuds. I'm virtuous.

  5. Yes, it is, but I like the taste of whole carrots better! Lovely image.
