SPT-Citius (faster)

Last night for Family Home Evening at the Singles’ Ward, we made homemade ice cream. Out of original boxes came new-ish cool blue and pretty pink ice cream freezers. Calvin and I plopped our rust bucket on the counter with the others. It was less than sleek, cool or pretty. In fact it didn’t even look sanitary. However,

darned if it didn’t get the ice cream frozen much faster than the other freezers. Evidently old is sometimes faster, just like the 38 year old Romanian woman who won the Olympic Marathon last week. I enjoyed watching her run the last few miles—she was hardly the sleekest, coolest or had the prettiest gait, but darned if she didn’t cross the line faster than everyone else. Citius anicula.

Creative summary at the end S...P...T... I liked it!
I wish I had an old icecream maker like that! I think they're still available, a friend of mine got one a couple of Christmases ago.

I just found out that my Bishop's grandson was airlifted to a hospital in Spokane after a drowning accident and it made me wonder where your daughter works?

This is a good one Jane! I'd describe our ice cream maker as a "rust bucket" as well, but it does make the bestest ice cream!! Sounds like it was a grand time ;)

We got a hand-crank ice cream freezer this last Christmas and I swear we can crank our own faster than the electric ones can do it!

Love your photo and your clever quote at the end with "spt"!

I am old like the ice cream bucket and sometimes I feel rusty.... I hope that I have some redeeming features like the good ice cream that comes from the rusty bucket.

I wish I had an old ice cream maker! That's pretty cool!
Also, Doane and I both enjoyed watching the marathon win of the woman last week. I tried to tell him the story about the marathon, and why it's 26 miles, but he didn't believe me, and said he'd look it up himself - even though I told him it came from you! Where's the love???.....

Clever clever Jane! I love the S.P.T. fit into the qote at the end and no, younger, prettier, newer does not necessarily mean FASTER! I love homemade ice cream and wish I had my GRANDMA'S freezer to use :)

I loved Dara Torres at 41 and the 33 year old gymnast that took silver. Whoever heard of a 33 year old gymnast, but she took second! Age, a lot of time is totally a state of mind.

We have a crank one too! I love it. It makes better icecream than the electic ones do.
Cute.

My old maker went the way of the dinasours, and I have a bright blue one now, you are right they don't make it as fast, and for some reason it doesn't taste as good!
Thanks for a great post

That marathon runner was so inspiring to watch, as was the 33 year old gymnast. Older is definitely not always slower.

Doug's parents actually went out and bought a third one to offset the old and they ended up taking it back because it didn't as well as the other. I bet that was some yummy stuff!

Excellent take on this SPT Jane! I love it when older things are faster and better.
