SPT--A Dozen Entertainers

just a little sliver of yellow in a world of blue

Lelly’s Self-Portrait Tuesday challenge for September is to root out blogger influence and this week’s challenge is to share which blogger has influenced us in entertaining and parties. First I must confess to those who have read The Color Code. I have only one slim strip of yellow in my personality. Yellow means playful, charismatic, sociable, FUN and I have only one very undersized piece of it.

I watch people like Emily or Gwen or Darla and they have a party just bumping into someone at WalMart. They must have yellow hearts. I read about the incredibly fun parties that Marie plans for birthdays or national hockey day or . . . actually just give Marie a roll of crepe paper and a few $tore items and she can turn any day of the year into a party. She must have a whole yellow section in her brain. I read about Susan feeding a passel of high school kids every noon or a big group of missionaries every month and she makes fish sticks festive. She must have yellow hands or at least a yellow thumb. Any time Donna visits she brings a party with her because she plain oozes yellow. Mary always has a great recipe she’s served at book club or stamping parties and she looks good in yellow. Give Heather a free weekend and she’ll have a family RV party planned in her back yard and Jill doesn’t hesitate to organize an entire community of bloggers into a bash. Jessica and Jared can turn a snowstorm into a huge party in their front yard, complete with a train made of snow that carries kids. And Ande, my own blood and kin, can take a loaf of bread, a couple dozen cookies and a few decks of cards and turn our living room into a five hour party.

But me? Well, I’m very, very blue and blue personalities . . . well, they’re not known for being fun but rather for appreciating all those entertaining people who can pull off a party. And that thin strip of yellow in me? Its job is to remember where all the ideas are posted so that I can find them the next time I’m in a party pinch. And, if I forgot to mention you in this post it will just make the blue side of me feel so badly, so we'll blame that on the yellow strip too for being too carefree.

I love this! I have a little yellow strip in my personality as well and admire the those who seem to leave yellow in their wake. I just love love love your take on this as I have been feeling a little stumped and un-entertaining with this week's challenge :)

This is awesome, Jane. I have just a tiny strip of yellow in a world of white! I'm so un-yellow I couldn't even think of anything for this challenge, but like you, I really appreciate the yellow in everyone else.

I had ZERO yellow when I took the test. Sad, really, because I love the creativity of a good party. And I am constantly stunned by it as I browse through everyone's blogs.

Hi, I am "coming out" with this post. I've been reading your blog for a few weeks and love it. I am blue like you are. I have lots of yellow friends, though! I think you might have more yellow in you than you think because you make it all look so easy! Thanks for great posts!

Okay, Jane, I totally disagree that you only have a tiny sliver of yellow. I think you're a very fun person and love to hang out with you when I get the chance!

Mamma you are so cute. I love that you are so blue. It makes me happy. Thanks for supplying all the bread and cookies for my parties! I love you.

Man what would we do without the color personality test! It's really opened up this whole world of understanding for me! I would have never pegged you as mostly blue, I think you're super fun!! You really access that sliver of yellow then when you give lessons because those are always entertaining!

I love your yellow sliver. I was what they called the worst combination ever- red/blue. Want to be on top, but feel so bad about everyone you have to kneel on to get there. Constant mental conflict. I don't know about my yellowness, though, probably a thin sliver, too!

Oh Jane! What if I wished I had more blue in this yellow brain of mine? In my mind, your working hands and loving heart are a wonder. Blue is beautiful.

Jane,
You are so wrong.. I see yellow in you... in those little ditties you MADE me participate in... and the fun things you've done with your kids... You have lots of yellow and glows everytime you are around...

Jane, Jane, Jane-

I am a blue, blue, blue person, maybe a little yellow, just because I like to have fun and getting together with all of my friends is my kind of fun!
You can even ask Rayme - he would tell you I am definatly blue!
Love your post.

Oh Jane!!! You are so nice! I appreciate the shout out, it's blues like you that make being a yellow totally worth it :) You have so much wisdom. When this young yellow grows up and has a family I hope I am close or have a neighbor Jane just like you!!

I love the idea of all the personality colors--sadly, I've never done mine.

I am inspired so often by the ideas of others, it's the following through that seems to be my hang-up. I like to imagine though.

I so hear you... I am NOT yellow... no fun. ever.

I can plan the party, the logistics, I just can't make it a good time.

Great post! What color shows great wit? Because whatever it is you've got a lot of it!

I also think I have next to no yellow in me. I truly admire those sunshiny yellow types out there. But I guess we do need balance in this world.

Every time I read your blog Jane I feel like saying, "this is your best post ever!"...they are all my favorites! :)

This one is so clever and so you...you are always appreciating others and what they do. What would the world be like without the appreciative audience?

I have a whole section of yellow in me but I couldn't think of anything for this challenge because I've just been too busy for a long time to entertain...

I kind of disagree since meeting you. I think you are extremely charismatic, very fun and all bright and sunny yellow. You sure showed me and my family a good time!:)
