SPT—Pins & Needles

Pins and Needles:

Plural Noun: A tingling sensation felt in a part of the body numbed from lack of circulation.
Idiom: In a state of tense anticipation.

(The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000.)

I saw the Christmas candy on the store shelf before Halloween was over. I saw Halloween costumes on the store shelf when it was still summer. I saw school supplies on the store shelf three weeks after school had recessed for the summer. Elections, like Christmas, Halloween and school supply sales, last much longer than they used to. In fact, if the stakes weren’t so high in this election I would say that I feel pins and needles—numb from the over-circulation of election diatribe. However, because the stakes are so high, I have felt a state of tense anticipation for the past few months.

Today, however, I feel happy and peaceful (they say acupuncture does that to you). Though I don’t know what tonight’s voting outcome will be and I have valid concerns for the future, after much prayer and concern I feel at peace that Someone larger than me is aware of America. I'm glad our votes have been counted in this historic election:

(Edited to add: Ooops. I didn't read the SPT directions clearly this week. Sorry, Lelly, next week I'll be wordless. I promise!)

Today, for the first time in a LONG time, I feel calm about it too.

I'm still in the "pins & needles" phase, hoping for the calm. I love your analogy here...your words are worth rule-breaking.

you look so fresh in your shot, acupuncture can do that too... i like the words, but i love to read, and i feel much the same as you do about the election.

there were so many things i wanted to say about my SPT moment, like my bad hair and lack of sleep, and sad i have a sick kid so no kids with me at the polls. whdaya think, does my shot say all that??? LOL

I'm just happy that I've done my part by voting. Good for the both of you too!

I'm glad you wrote something, because I always love reading what you write. I have been nervous about the election this past week, but after I voted I just felt happiness. However the nervousness may come back tonight as I await the results.

Mom,
I've felt very calm today too. I was also wondering if it was numbness-calm or if it was peaceful-calm. Numbness from being overexposed. Peaceful for doing my part (not because I'll get my way). I wasn't an idle by-stander, I made a decision and acted upon it.
I loved the picture of you and dad.

I did my part and now I can leave the rest in God's capable hands...

I love the photo of you and Calvin (you know, he is one of those few men who look really nice with a mustache!).

I'm glad you wrote something this week--and also, I am still laughing over your hairdresser stories in your other post. Too, too funny! :)

I didn't read the directions either! Glad I'm not the only one.

I'm calm. And I'm praying for our new president.

Amen! I'm so grateful to have an eternal perspective!

Great spt! AND, glad for the words even if you did break the rules!

Figurative acupuncture, very clever.
Your new President-elect sounded very humble in his acceptance speach.

and the pins and needles analogy is great even without words, i would've totally understood the statement.
