52 Blessings—Games

Photobucket

My niece, Rachel, came to spend the weekend with us and we played a few rounds of Speed Scrabble this morning while we waited for Church to begin. As I was spilling the tiles, I thought of what a great thing games can be—providing conversation and interaction in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. (Granted, sometimes it takes effort to keep the atmosphere relaxed, and that’s why Calvin and I don’t play the marble game Aggravation anymore, and seldom play on separate teams. :0)

My current favorite games are Dominoes and Banana-Grams. I especially like it when we play for milkshakes . . . and I don’t lose. Funny I’d never realized before what a blessing games are in my life until this morning; they have lots of good memories attached and lots of possibilities promised.

What’s your current favorite game?

We like playing games in our family too. And just today in church the activites committee announced they were going to begin a games night for the ward once a month, so we are geared up for that.

As for favourite games? Hmmm...I like noisy interactive ones the best. Cranium, Taboo, Balderdash, charades, etc. Dirk like stragetgy/thinking games; Risk, Clue, Settlers...

We love bananagrams here!
A new game we got for Christmas & love is Last Word- fun. Games do add to a lot of great memories in our lives :)

Love the header-- not sure if it's new or I'm inattentive.

My family (sisters + parents) are split between being staunch game haters and game players. Guess some are just a little too competitive. I married into a game-loving family, who were used to putting up with Chris's constant winning. After I won every game over Christmas, they're thinking I'm a force to be reckoned with.

Game choices are tricky. I'm a pretty sore loser myself, so games of skill or knowledge are out; I can't handle losing to Chris every. single. time. Dominoes, Bananagrams, Killer Bunnies, Battleships and Set are acceptable. Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit or any game with pop culture trivia are out.

David and I played Settlers of Catan with another couple this afternoon after church and I won! So, it's my favorite of the day. :)

We play phase 10, Phase 10 dice, and put together puzzles quite a bit.

Wow. My family is alot like Deidra's family. So many of us are so competitive that we can't decide if we like to play games or not.

And I also married into a huge gamer family. We like to play bananagrams, scum, perudo, fill or bust, yahzee and boggle.

My husband REALLY doesn't like to play games where he has to act something out. Like Guesstures would be his worst nightmare.

I personally like (besides the games listed above) sequence or putting puzzles together. Both are less competitive. I also usually have to be on Kyle's team too. He wins a lot and if we are on separate teams I get too competitive.

We are a game family, too. We really enjoy Ticket to Ride, Blokus, Settlers of Cataan (and the Cities & Knights version), Sorry, and the Monopoly card game (much faster and funner than regular Monopoly). :)

We've been playing tons of Agricola lately because my husband just got it for Christmas.

Also, Hi. I'm Miranda. I see you comment on a couple of the blogs that I read so I'm pretty sure we should be friends. :)

P.S. I also just read that you grew up in Southern Idaho. So did I. Sooo, that pretty much seals it for me. Hi new friend.

I played Pounce last night with a group of 14. I won. Of course. Brenda if you are reading this, I don't cheat anymore. Pure skill.

I wish I was home playing with you!

I love you.

I love playing games! Bananagrams is a favorite here, too. Also Boggle, card games, Quiddler, You've Been Sentenced, Cataan... I love puzzles as well.

I really can't stand games like Cranium, charades, etc. Just not my type.

I do love that Miranda is your new friend, you are both delightful!

I love games! We're currently hooked on Quiddler, but always come back to Settlers of Catan, Speed Scrabble, SCUM, and Boggle.

We played Pictionary on Friday night and I laughed so hard I peed! I love the hilarious things that end up getting said in the middle of playing games, I think that's my favorite part.

I love Bananagrams, Killer Bunnies, and most anything that I play with fun people. There are few games that I do not enjoy if I am in good company.

Ohhhhh. The competition. We love, love, LOVE games - but someone usually goes away crying. I try hard to make sure it's not me ;) We even compete in our dental exams, remember? We love dominoes, Set, Blokus, and tons of card games - Crazy 8's, King's Corner, etc.

PS - Love the Valentine blog header. Too cute!

Well, I have younger kids so our favs right now are checkers, Don't Tip The Waiter, Twister, Phase 10 Kids and Uno!

As adult I love to play pinochole, hearts, spades, pictionary, scattergories and trivial pursuit!

You have no idea how much I enjoyed that! I haven't been able to find anyone to play with for quite a while. THANK YOU!

We are definite games people at our house. That is usually date night for Jeff and I...we play Rummikub, Blokus, Boggle, the Monopoly card game and others. We love to invite people over for games...if they put winning before having fun than they don't get invited back! :)

I like to win as much as the next guy but there's a limit so Jeff and I are more picky about who we play with than what we'll play.

I've been wanting to try Bananagrams for a while...

p.s. I like Miranda's comments...I don't know her but it sounds like I may need to :)

I don't know what my favorite is, but I can tell you I'm tired of MEMORY.
(On the weekend I made necklace pendants from scrabble tiles I bought at Value Village.)
