52 Blessings – Humanitarian Aid

You can’t help but wonder how you can help when you see the anguished faces of the people in Japan.  They look discouraged, scared, thirsty.  I wish I could offer them a bottle of water, or a warm and safe place to stay, or help them scoop up the mess, or help them find their friends and family.  I can’t.  But I can pray for them, and then put my money where my mouth is and donate to charities that can help them find warm places to stay and rebuild their lives.  I’m grateful to organizations that are prepared to help others in distress.  Even though my donation might be a small drop, it’s a blessing to feel like I can do something to help someone else.

I hadn't really looked at much of the footage this weekend, until tonight. It is unreal what has happened. The Church's humanitarian aid will certainly be a great blessing to Japan. I agree, Jane, it feels like a drop in the bucket when we make a small donation, but it is worth the small blessings we receive for being selfless, thoughtful and prayerful for others.

I'm so grateful for Christian organizations and the opportunity we have to donate. It was so great to remind people of this, because I had to give the Relief Society lesson yesterday on service. I ended with President Monson's, Have I done any good in the world today?. Just reminds me of how much more I need to be doing. See you soon!

It's just been so disheartening to read about. The poor people in Japan. Sadly, it'll be the poor people somewhere else much too soon. Disasters are ever more frequent and I hope I can stay sensitive to the real plight of so many.

This is beautiful. I have been praying for Japan. I agree with Lucy, it seems that disasters are ever more frequent.

I love the Church humanitarian aid program, and this makes me want to be more involved in it!
