Monday Memories -- One Grand Day

Joe, Ande, me, Calvin, Cali, Ray

When Ande was a little three-year-old, I overheard her tell five-year-old Cousin Rachel, “Rachel, I’m going to be a queen when I grow up.”  There was a pause and I could picture Rachel either ignoring her or looking at her with eyebrows raised, because Ande said, “I am.   Mom said I could be.”  She was serious.  Ande seldom doubted her worth as a child and was consequently joyful by nature.  She was a fun child and never wanted for a friend in the family.

This last Saturday we went to the Columbia River Temple with Ande.  Solemn.  Joyous.  Two words seldom used simultaneously, but those two words describe temple work.  We Mormons build temples as houses of the Lord and we go there to learn eternal truths and receive sacred ordinances.  It’s a happy, reverent time and it was an especially happy and reverent time on Saturday as Ande made covenants and learned things of eternity.

Temple memories are some of the very best.

It really was such a great day. And I DO remember learning about becoming a Queen and telling Rachel about it. Thank you for such a great weekend. It was soooo great. I loved it.

My Gabby got marked down in Kindergarten because her teacher said she could differentiate fantasy from realty because she insisted to her classmates that she really is a princess. Just thought of that after reading about Ande.

what a wonderful day for your family and joyous and solemn are the most perfect words for the temple.

Solemn and joyous. That's a perfect description. I really can't imagine a happier thing as a mother than being with your children in the temple.

Wonderful, wonderful! I think that being in the temple with my family is such an incredible feelings. Forever means more when you are inside the walls of the temple.

I am on pins and needles to see pictures of the wedding. She'll be such a beautiful bride!
