March Photo Challenge – Your Name.

It took me a long time to like my name when I was a little girl.  I thought Melissa would be nice.  Everybody had that name.  I also wished I had better initials.  Mine were JC.  My sister's were CC and I thought it would be very nice to have the same initials as someone as famous as Christopher Columbus.  I chewed on that disappointment for several weeks and then one day while I was riding my bike I thought, "Hey!  I've got the same initials as Jesus.  JC.  Jesus Christ.  That's a good one to match."  From then on I started to like my name because it gave me matching initials to Jesus.

How about you?  What did you wish for your name?  How long until you started to like the one you got?

I wanted my name to be Shelly. That was what I named my pound puppy.

I used to pretend my name was Clara. I thought it was the most beautiful name in the world. And you thinking about initials and Jesus Christ just made me snort out a big laugh. Only you. No wonder everybody loves you.

Oh, I love this. I love your name. I also love graph paper, and that pen.

I used to want my name to be anything but what it was, I thought it was so boring. But then again, my mom originally wanted to name me Tiffany, so I was grateful that at least it wasn't that. I just can't see myself as a Tiffany. I started to like my name when I got married because I love my last name (even if people are always getting it wrong)!

I specifically asked my mom and got upset on why she didn't name me, "Angela Rose". She said, "I guess I didn't think about it." I replied, "Well, you just weren't thinkin' were you mom?!"

I never thought Michelle quite fit me. I guess it eventually grew on me. What I really hated was the last name "Page." I thought it was the worst name for jokes. Now looking back and meeting many more people, I realize it could have been A LOT worse. Another positive thing about your name is that I can say "Janey Payney." Can't do that with my name. :)

I absolutely hated my name growing up. Jorden was really popular for boys in the early eighties so needless to say everyone thought I was a boy when the role was called and then to there surprise I was a girl. It was aweful. I decided one day I would go by my middle name, Kelly, totally a girly name. Well that lasted about a day and I decided it was to much of a hassle to remind everyone that I had changed it. So I decided I liked it, it was different for a girl and that was cool. Fast forward to getting married, now my last name is Jolley, you wouldn't believe how many people snicker when I say my name is "Jorden Jolley". For some reason Jolley just makes people laugh. Guess you can't please them all, but I love it!

Loved this cute little story Jane. In Jr. High I wished my name were Jade...my best friend even made me a bracelet with jade on it and called me Jade. But once I got married and became a Williams, I liked my name because I had a neighbor with the name heather williams growing up and she was so beautiful!

I really wanted the name Jane when I was a little girl. I don't think that I could say that I like the name Nanci Orpha but it's my name and I'm getting used to it. I just don't like it when people ask me my middle name.

When I was younger I thought I had such an unusual last name and Winterton was way too long. I wanted to be a Smith or something like it. Well fast forward to the man I married and there COULDN'T be a more unusual name for me to have. No one has it and no one knows how to pronounce it. It's taken some getting used to, but if anything I love being the only Lisa Gleue in the entire world because there's no mistaking who is who if I ever see my name on a list or roster. It sure made Winterton sound more Smith-like though! :) By the way I love your name.

These stories all made me laugh. I have to say, I never much thought about my name growing up. I did like my initials "M.N" because they were consecutive in the alphabet. And now with my married name, I like that my initials spell 'me.'

I was JUST thinking about this as a post. Funny! I’ll reveal my heart’s desire name then. I love your name. Love it, love it, love it.

Oh, this is all just too funny! Makes me wonder what my own kids think about the names Imgave them. I hated the name Charlotte -- it was so stinking long! The girls sitting next to me in school were Pam and Kim. . . .

But then having the initials CP gave me automatic "cootie protection" in elementary school, and now I am CPR -- and glad I know it! Such funny things!

I love my name -- a lot spell in wrong, but hey, I named my daughter Aimee and NO ONE spells hers right. . .
