52 Blessings -- Spring

cherry blossoms above the kitchen sink

The frogs are croaking.  The ditch banks are burned.  Water is in the canal.  The garden is tilled and partially planted.  The lilacs are budding.  The hens are laying steady.  The baby chicks are still downy but getting a few of their pin feathers.  Dandelions are everywhere.  The peony bush and irises have sent up their shoots.  The rhubarb is ready to cut.  We had two warm, sunny days in a row.

Your blogging amazes me. I loved your post about the Ellsworths. I don't even know them but I was riveted and so moved by your description of each person. That little girl is an amazing photographer! Thanks, Jane, for being such an inspiration!!!

I didn't know you had a peonie? Where? I love the picture outside the window. It makes me homesick.

I think it is warmer on your side of the valley...all we have are a few tulips and daffodils. No lilacs as yet and no blossoms on our apricot tree. The garden only has onions in it and it wasn't tilled. Our ditches need burning. Why Jane I would just say that I live on the wrong side of the tracks...oops, I mean valley. I am north of you so maybe that accounts for it. Enjoy your Garden of Eden. So blessed.

Our lilacs are in bloom too, I love it!

Yesterday was in the 80's and today will be too...sadly this isn't good for our tulips!!

At the end of last summer I bought a peony, but thought it hadn't survived the winter. I was so excited when I saw shoots.

We're past all the spring blooming, so I can't wait to be in Idaho in a little while to get to experience round two! (I fear I might miss my peony though, since it has perfect round buds already). I love spring and all the things your described.

Love that quote and all those descriptions of your spring...makes me long for a country living with space to run around and ditches to hop across and explore with my kids...some day maybe...someday. So many good memories of spring time and you've really ignited them with this post...thanks! BtW, thank you too for your wonderful message on gardening the other night...you are so great!

Every thing grows in Moses Lake. I didn't appreciate it near as much while living there as I have since moving! And I do remember how nice it was to finally see green instead of brown. Happy Spring Paynes!

Lilacs are my favorite. I found a bush to walk by in our new neighborhood. It's almost in full bloom. More walks for me.

Oh I love our house in spring! I wish I was there to see it. The canal turning on is always the best.
