Thursday Thinking

As you may or may not have noticed, each day of the week there is a different topic on my blog. I began the Neighbor Jane Payne website and weekly newsletter in 2004 to earn money so the family could attend Cali’s college graduation in Hawaii.* The mission was accomplished and a few years later I added the blog. Knowing I only have so many ideas or words on a given day, when I added the blog I ran it like the feature section in a newspaper with a different daily theme.

Monday Memories: This has been valuable in recording family stories that hadn’t yet been written down.
Self-Portrait Tuesday: This feature inhibits inhibition and has taught me some funny things about myself.
Wednesday is Homemaking Tips: Homemaking has long been a passion and I enjoy the sharing of ideas.
Friday is Life in My World: This provides a week summary of current events in our lives.
Sunday is 52 Blessings: An important theme for recording details and the hand of God in my life.

Thursday was Gift Giving/Teaching Ideas, however today I’m introducing Thursday Thinking. There are some topics that just don’t fit on the other days and yet aren’t big enough to devote a whole newsletter, so beginning next Thursday I’m beginning a trial run.

I expect these posts to be random. For example this past week I’ve thought a lot about patriotism, integrity, political correctness, finances, skinny sleep, wedding plans, cancer and graduation. Who knows what topic will rise to the top for next Thursday.
What have you been thinking about this week?

*the newsletter is now FREE and you’re more than welcome to sign up for it here

Jane, you never cease to amaze me. I wish I had a mind like yours. I have been thinking a lot this week but not nearly as deep as you. I have been thinking, why do I do this to myself? Why doesn't my grandbaby live closer? When will I get more sleep? How can I get my house clean? and what has fewer calories in it? Those are my thoughts.....

Um, what's "skinny sleep"? Cause if it's thinking skinny while you sleep, and you wake up skinnier, I'll have to try it!
Anywho, I've been thinking about illness, debts, and how to better reach my Laurels during lessons.

I'm in a constant state of thinking. I actually need more 'doing' in my life. :) Your thinking always inspires me, I'll be looking forward to these posts! Way to change it up!

Oh, if only I could turn my brain off occassionally...it never stops thinking! This can be a little maddening quite often but I try to see the positives in it :)

Just this morning (for no real reason that I can figure out) I have been thinking a lot about the conscious choices Jeff and I make in our TV and movie viewing (or rather, not viewing...we don't do much of either one) and trying to come up with a way to blog about it for posterity's sake without sending self-righteous...stuff along those lines :).

Now, I'm off to sign up for your newsletter!

Why are you thinking about cancer? and what is skinny sleep? I have been thinking about how to add more structure to my life so I can be more efficient, and how to reach my 16 yr old sunday school kids.

All I think about is "what do I need to do today to not throw up" Oh and "Why am I not having triplets so I never have to go through this again!" or "what movie can I put on that Cambree will sit through and I can get some rest on the couch." pretty sad I know!! Maybe someday when my kids are grown I will think about things as deep as you!

I've been thinking that I never want to be a single mom. Steve's been gone this week. It's not fun. I've also thought how I loved it when my kids were little and now they are big and sometimes it's not so fun. And much more complicated!

This sounds like a great addition to your already wonderful line up of days. I'm curious about all the things you mentioned and really want to know what skinny sleep is.

I hope skinny sleep is on your mind again- I must know what that is!

I enjoy how your blog is set up and the weekly themes. I can't wait for next Thursday!

I'm thinking how does one ponder so much Jane??
I'm also thinking I should email you, but haven't had the time with Krista here. BUT will soon.
Keep thinking, oh great thinker because the thoughtless like me enjoy your thoughts.
