Homemaking Tip--The Parfait

These little plastic cups are from the $tore and have come in quite handy for quick desserts and salads--especially when taking a meal to someone. A plus is they're single serving size and eliminate leftovers. Tonight I filled them with pudding, cool whip and heath bits, a few weeks ago with a no-bake cheescake recipe, another time with waldorf salad. At 8 for $1, they're a bargain . . . and cute to boot. What would you put in them?

I'll have to look for some of those the next time I go to the dollar store, because I know the kids would be giddy to have such a fancy dessert.

I love parfaits... a close cousin to trifles in the impressive category. A little bit of work, but a big payoff.

My nephew loves his breakfast parfait in a fancy glass. Yogurt, granola and fruit layered, with some whipped cream on top, and maybe some sprinkles, if he's lucky.

The kids love when I fancy up dessert. Usually it's chocolate pudding and cool whip. They go crazy if I put extra sprinkles. Love the Heath bits, nice idea. I'm looking for those cups next time I'm at the store but what do you bet after this post they're sold out?

Well, Ice cream is my family's favorite dessert, and at that price maybe three each would be about right! :) That pudding thing looks really good!

Everyone would want something different - which is actually possible with these little guys! Colt would have ice cream, Matt and I would want cheesecake or something similar, and Chance would try to find a way to make cake or cobbler in there. Yummy!

YUM! Those look GOOD. You are so creative! It was already suggested but I'd do a parfait with vanilla yogurt, berries, and granola on top. I hope I'm as creative as you some day!

Yum. I think instead of coming up with my own idea, I'd just copy yours. I love the jello one. mmmm

No, the question is, "what will you be putting in them for me?" Just kidding! I like the pudding idea! And the cheesecake one. Yummy!

Hmmm, I haven't had chocolate pudding in a long, long time. They look delish (and cute!)

Cute! I would make ice cream sundaes or individual trifles if I was feeling ambitious. Fruit, yogurt and granola for breakfast sounds fabulous. Who doesn't like a little fancy?

The pudding looks great, but since I am dieting and you can't buy chocolate pudding in this country it would have to be fruit in mine..cut up and assorted with pomegranate seeds sprinkled on *for visual appeal* :) and a squeeze of fresh lime.

Jane, I do want the recipe for the chili sauce. I've just been trying to get out from under other canning projects until taking another one on. Here's my email
