I think I’ll always consider cold cereal as a luxury and so yesterday when I stumbled on an incredible cereal sale and luxury suddenly looked like prudence, I picked out 22 boxes. The colorful boxes have been decorating the counter all day and I keep thinking about all the things I can do with them.
I also spent time thinking of answers to these sound-it-out brain puzzlers on the back of the box of Frosted Mini-Wheats:
folk is son’s cool
beef oak kissed hill hunch
deal is shush hole gray inn vibe burr
It took me a few hours to solve the second one. I had to walk away and then come back and look at it again.
I’ve also been thinking a lot about the tragedy that happened at Fort Hood. How could we not think of that. It is so sobering.
What have you been thinking about today?
What's your favorite kind of luxury cereal?
Did you solve the puzzlers?

Oh, the Fort Hood thing is sad, sad, sad....been keeping an eye on it all day. I'm in the middle of parent teacher conferences and let me just tell you I am having some doozies (sp?). What to do when a parent doesn't take off a humongous fur hat with a tail down the back and you can't quit staring? Exactly. Trying to focus on the kids' grades and the whole time I"m thinking, "Is that a fox? no, much too big....A wolf? Do they come in that color?" Oh dear....also remembering when I was little my luxury cereal was coming to visit because then I could get a cereal in a BAG! I was SO jealous that I couldn't get a BAG of cereal! Love you!
I hadn't heard about the Ft. Hood tragedy before your post motivated me to hit a U.S. news website. I'm having my own moment of silence.
Those aren't just cereal... those are good cereal! We didn't eat cereal much while Chris worked at home. But now that breakfast at 9:30 doesn't work for him, our cereal supply is dwindling.
I think I am way too tired to even begin wrapping my brain around them. We are one hour later here...if that excuse holds any water?!
Be sure to have a follow-up post and give the answers. Seriously.
It warms my heart that of all of the cereals residing in our cupboard, the most popular must-have is my homemade granola. Can I say YUM!?
OK, here are my answers:
focus on school
be focused till lunch (what?!)
delicious whole grain fiber
How'd I do? You do know that there is an expiration date on cereal:) We always had healthy cereal growing up and on our birthdays we could choose any cereal we wanted. Of course, we all went for Captain Crunch and Fruity Pebbles. I still like Captain Crunch and Cocoa Pebbles the most.
BRENDA
This just makes me that much more excited to come home!!!
Put all that cereal in a high cupboard and you can have stage an episode of Seinfeld!
My favorite junky cereal is Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs.
The "Deal is Shush" half of the bottom puzzler had me stumped. I was wandering around my kitchen mumbling until I finially said "Delicious!" and startled baby Harrison from sleeping in my arms. Oops.
22 Boxes? That must have been some sale!
I need to stock up on cereal too, we eat a lot of it around here and it's definitely our go-to meal of choice.
Cereal at times is an indulgence around here. I try and keep a box on hand, as backup. But when we hit a great sale, everyone gets excited!
But I don't think I have ever seen a sale like what you have!
Somewhere, I still have orange paper products we bought on sale. You have a lot of cereal to eat now! Its not as good for you as the oatmeal, and I'm not so sure that even on sale it is still as cheap as oats, but even animals need a change of diet occasionally, so eat up!
Being associated with the military over here, and hearing about the tragedy at Fort Hood makes my heart ache for those famillies that have suffered such a great loss.
I love the picture you have as your header!
I am totally with you on the cereal... who knew you could get it so cheap... I am not cereal-stingy anymore now that I use coupons. Finally I am the cool mom... one little girl couldn't get over me letting them eat cereal just because... she gets one bowl, once a week. Sure she is a lot healthier than us....
