SPT—Melanie & Me

Photobucket

Melanie is moving to Big Town. Melanie has cut my hair for years and years—even before there was a Milo, Katherine, Nathan, Dane or Reed. Melanie soothed my feelings when I lost a bowl-sized spot of hair to a hot blow-dryer, and helped me develop the comb-over ‘til it grew back six months later. Melanie calls when she knows I have a big event coming and says, “When works best for you to get your hair done?” Melanie makes me feel funnier, skinnier, smarter and prettier than I am. I will miss knowing Melanie is in town. I know we will still keep in contact (thank you blogging) but the security of proximity has my feathers a bit ruffled. I love, admire and appreciate you, Melanie. Thank you.

Is your hair stylist loveable?

The one thing I hate about moving is finding someone new to cut my hair! I have a great one here in Norway. I'm lucky I think, there is lots of stupid hair here! You should contemplate driving to the Big Town for cuts...I would...I have. It's worth it. :)

My aunt has cut my hair since I was about 12. For the most part, it's worth the two hour drive to wait for a $5 haircut. Recently she was denying me a super short haircut I wanted, telling me I regretted it, so I found someone in my own town who would give it to me! Now that it's short, I'm going to have to keep right on top of it so I don't look shaggy. I might need to shell out real money for haircuts. Ah!

It is a beautiful picture of you two. I'm so happy for Melanie's family that they have this opportunity, but can guess the hole they'll leave in smaller town.

oh i HATE finding a new hair lady...which is why I am in desperate need of a haircut and I haven't gotten one in...well we will keep that a secret. Since she is moving to my town do you think she will be my new hair lady? is she going to keep cutting hair? Do you think she will give me the haircut she has...because I LOVE it!! Let me know if she needs some new clients in big town...I would be happy to go!!! Remember I am in DESPERATE need!! That is sad for you though. You could still come down and go shopping and then get your haircut...sounds like it would be the perfect day getaway!

I knew this would end up on your blog so I should have been more prepared. But no, tears. Thank you Jane for your friendship and support for all these years. I'm not sure I would have made it say 5 or so years ago without your 'counseling' about how long it takes for parent paydays. Remember all those talks? I'm going to miss Little Town so much. Even with all that Big Town has to offer. I have to keep reminding myself to not be sad over a huge blessing that is most definitely answer to many, many prayers. It even sounds awful to type that, I'm not ungrateful. I'm so excited and happy for Milo and our family it just..... Well you get it! Love you!!

How sweet that you two have developed such a good relationship.

I always get attached to my stylists and hate having to find a new one.

Do you mean your hair feathers ruffled? I'm choosing to think you did :). Yes, I will miss Melanie too. She makes you have some GREAT hair.

Well, I have never really had a steady hairdresser, although I really need one. I am terrible at getting haircuts when needed and I need one now. So, since I live 45-60 minutes (depending on which part) from Big Town, I wonder if I could be Melanie's first client in Big Town! I really don't know Melanie - only know of her through Susan and you. But, I would certainly give her a chance to wack off my hair! :)

Such a good friend. It is hard to have people you love move. Sigh.

It's hard when a friend moves. It's hard when your hairstylist moves. But when they BOTH do, oh-ho, I am feeling for you, Jane!
