52 Blessings—Here Comes the Sun

I just expect the sun to rise every morning. A given. It’s another one of those blessings, like air and water, which I often overlook. Sometimes the sunrise is brilliant, sometimes it just slowly does its job of coming up and warming the earth—either way it rises day in and day out regardless of my appreciation, or lack of. I appreciate that the sun is steady.

I’m grateful for the sun’s warmth and light, too. I appreciate that it provides light, even at night when it is supposed to be sleeping, through the moon’s and stars’ reflections. I am grateful for the new days with new opportunities that it provides. And rainbows. No sun, no rainbows.

Is there a blessing you really are grateful for that you often take for granted?

As I leave work every Monday at 6:00, I've been watching how it stays a little bit lighter each week. First I was thrilled when it was still light(er) outside at 5:30, and last week it was only duskish at 6:00, not completely black. I'm so happy that the sun is hanging around longer each day!

Probably a thousand! But I never grow tired of a beautiful sun rise or sun set, that is one blessing I don't take for granted!

Since having health issues, I am grateful for my heart that keeps beating and beating and beating and my lungs that keep breathing and breathing and breathing without me thinking and thinking and thinking of making it happen!! A miracle our bodies are! I have taken these things for granted, but when they give you problems you are more aware, more thankful for life.

Beautiful photo!

Every now and then, I think about how wonderful it is that my body functions with very little thought from me. With all that can go wrong, I sometimes think it's miraculous that we all live as long as we do!
