This was one of the ten items I chose:
(please pretend with me that this is fine, black velvet showcasing this beautiful bracelet, not our blue chair cushion)
A couple of months ago Ty asked his host mom, Whitney, to make this bracelet for me. Attached as a charm is a miniature replica of his USAFA class ring--complete with class crest, motto, etc... I love what this ring stands for. I love the sentiment behind this gift. I especially love that Ty asked Whitney to make it. It is a real treasure.
For Mother’s Day, I asked each of the kids and Calvin to buy a charm that best represents them to add to the bracelet. I expect it will take several months for each of them to find one, but when they’re all attached I’ll take another picture and share.
In the meantime, if your house was on fire, with your family safe and accounted for, what is one item you would wish to save?

This was our dinner question the other night! Everyone had some great answers - until I told them all that they would be hauling out armfuls of scrapbooks with their first trip - they could get whatever they deemed important on their second trip!!
Agreed- pictures! Pictures! Pictures!
External hard drive with all my pics, then my wedding photos (don't have those digitally, sad!), and a scrapbook I made for Ben before we were married.
My first thought was the genealogy records...all those surname notebooks. But then I though about the priceless pictures. The genealogy can be redone but the pictures are not replacable. Nice gift from Ty...lucky mom you are!! I like your choice of things to rescue.
We were reading about the stripling warriors in family scripture last night and my thoughts wandered to your boys . . .
Pictures, journals, and scrapbooks! Easy answer for me :)
Love the bracelet and I'm looking forward to seeing the other charms as you acquire them.
The gift Abe gave me from his mission.
Yes, pictures would for sure be what I save. I have a hard drive that I scan/download and label all pictures I have onto. This hard drive with all the pictures would be what I would take from the fire.
What a sweet and beautiful gift!
Family pictures are the things that come to mind when I think of having to flee home.
I guess I would grab our safe. We keep all of our documents in it.
The most recent one added is our Temple sealing document. I loved that Derek put that in there. The fact that he finds it so important means so much to me.
Thats a tough question. What a item to treasure though! I love the meaning behind it.
What a meaningful gift! How I love thoughtful men.
I would try to save my external hard drive (photo storage) and as many actual pictures as possible. And my scriptures.
Sooo, where are you? ;)
