Tuesday – Ready or Not

The mother of all storms is supposed to come in tonight:  “Enormous.  Major.  Potentially historic,” says the weather channel.  The Seattle weathermen say they have 100% chance (that’s a funny oxymoron isn’t it) of snow.  They don't get snow very often and, what with the narrow, hilly streets that have outlawed salt, it shuts the city down when they do.

I keep my expectations low on what forecasters say – I don’t fault them, I’ve watched the sky for years and can’t predict the clouds either – but just in case they’re right I ran a mental checklist for the snowbound this afternoon:  wood, a charged flashlight, candles, water, food.  Check, check, check, check, check.  Oh, and a good book or a project.  Check, check.  I’m ready; I'm hopeful.

Wow that's quite the prediction from the forecasters! Smart to be ready just in case but I to am leery of such big predictions, they very rarely are right. Good luck!

This forecast is putting a damper on my plans (how dare Mother Nature). I don't care if it snows Wed, Thurs but please clear up Friday. I have a hair appt and I really need to dump the frump and get a new style.

I laughed outloud when I read the part about you looking at the clouds and can't tell the weather either. How did you get so good at posting every day?

Yeah i went and got milk tonight. i thought about finding a flashlight and some batteries...but then I thought well, Walmart is just a 3 minute walk from my house. probably just a 1 minute run...yeah not very good thinking on my part. sheesh I need to follow your example and be a little better prepared! Although, i think David is praying for the storm to hit hard and get a work snow day out of it. if that doesn't happen well then I don't want it to be a big storm. i get anxiety when i know my hubby is driving a big ol vanpool an hour to work every morning and home again.

Sounds like you are prepared...except you need a box of chocolates to go with the "picture" of you by the roaring fire, the easy chair and a good book. Enjoy!

Yes Deanna, you're so right. How could I have forgotten chocolates?

I am so curious to find out if you got a storm! We have not had anything this winter. I love a good snow day- its a treat when you are prepared and the electricity stays on!

You forgot to mention the hot chocolate, or cider, and the makings of a good stew. mmmmm.

Sounds like we could get another good post out of this storm, if you finish your book/project in time for one!

If I have not told you this before, schools shut down in Albuquerque if there is an INCH of snow! In Utah, school is only closed if you cannot open the doors!!

A friend from your neck of the woods posted on Facebook that the storm had hit. Hope you're enjoying the snow. Your preparations for it make it sound ideal!

Can't wait to hear about the storm, the book, the project, and whether you had any chocolates handy...

The Seattle weather forecasters can be entertaining. Or annoying. Right after we moved there, there was a small snowfall and work and school were canceled. There were weather reports all day long, keeping people updated. I thought it was hysterical.

Sounds like they were right this time!
