Life in My World--Odds & Ends

1. This week I had a perfectly orchestrated day. It included seven appointments from one end of the county to the other, stacked on top of each other. One mishap and they’d have all gone sliding. Only the very last appointment fell through and that wasn’t until 8:00 p.m. and the result was getting to bed earlier than hoped. Six for seven. Great.

2. Recently I asked a group of people “If prayer had a color what would it be and why?” They had some great answers and here are a few of them:

Rainbow colored because color has emotion and prayer is full of all kinds of emotion.
Green because it is the color of life and prayer gives life to those who use it.
Black because it encompasses all colors and prayer encompasses all things—problems, blessings, sadnesses, etc.
White because it is pure.
Baby blue because it is soothing and soft and comforting.
Iridescent because it is different depending on how you look at it or what you need.
Diamond colored because it is beautiful.
Red because it is powerful.
Gold because it is valuable.
Yellow because it is bright and shows us the way like the sun does.

3. Calvin and I planned to go to Blind Side last night, but it was sold out so we went to dinner instead. He ate plate after plate of crab legs. After each plate he’d say, “At some point I am going to hit the point of diminishing returns” but he never did. Frankly, I’m not surprised because meat retrieval from the shell is so much work it makes you hungry afresh for each bite, I don't think it's possible to ever have enough satisfaction for it to diminish. I ate my usual—stir-fried, fresh vegetables (squash, bean sprouts, celery, snow peas, cabbage) with sesame chicken on top. He’s a hunter; I’m a gatherer.

4. Ande comes home tomorrow. Yay. Yay. Yay.

Did you have a perfectly orchestrated day this week?
If prayer had a color what do you think it would be and why?

I did have a perfectly orchestrated day this week! I had a long presidency meeting followed by 2, hour-long visiting teaching appointments, then home for 2 hours then another visiting teaching appointment, then I got Whitney to art class on time, then ran the kids to Kohl's so we could take advantage of my sister's 30% off coupon and get Landon new church pants, then made it to the ward's Youth talent night!

I love the picture of the crayons. I think the color of my prayers depends on the day!

Come to think of it, I don't know that I would call it perfect, but I did have to get all three boys up and ready by myself and to the sitter by 7am so I could be to W. Richland by 8am for an all day HR Meeting. Not perfect because it involves me working! However, the boys didn't have a bad morning, got up without me having to wake them up!

Prayer for me could be a sage green or that soft slate blue that makes you feel comfy and safe and home.

I had a heavy Rachmaninoff orchestrated week. Going, going, going to this and that and the other. But, it was satisfying to get so much done.

I often think in color but haven't thought about prayer as a color. I think it must be a rainbow because there are many different prayer experiences. Sadly, most are probably peach/tan/flesh tone. Non-descript but still pretty

I have never eaten Crab or Lobster. I abhor the idea of working to eat meat. I can't even eat chicken with bones or skin. Must not resemble an animal in any way. Your dinner sounded delicious, though:)

have fun with Ande!

Have fun with Ande! What a fun thing to look forward to.

I had days last week that I was able to throw my plans out the window to help others- my orchestrated days are mostly about being flexible for my kids needs.

Color of prayer- wow- at first I thought black and white, because when I pray my eyes are often closed and my thoughts are the light- but then I thought about being happy and sad in my prayers. So I think multi colored.

I can't even wrap my mind about prayer being a color -- what does that say about me?
