Tuesdays with Ande
Poor Ande. The rest of our kids just got my preaching at home, but it has followed Ande. I was not only her moralizing mother, but also her primary teacher, primary president, Sunday school teacher, seminary teacher and now, her evening religion instructor. She is to be admired. She’s heard it all before—all of it, for years and years—but she smiles back at me, listens, includes those around her, and is still willing to add her two cents.
I have lots to learn from Ande:
1. Endurance.
2. Patience.
3. Wear red glasses—even if you have 20/20 eyesight—to mix things up a bit.
4. Use your deep guttural laugh often.
5. Sleep when you’re tired, eat when you’re hungry, work when you’re broke, play when you can, and spend some time alone every day so you don’t get cross.
6. Don’t be afraid to try new things, eat new foods, read new books, listen to new music, and develop new talents and interests.
I’m glad Ande and I have been side by side through lots of Tuesdays. She is a good teacher.

your title reminded me of the book Tuesday's with Morrie. I love that book, David and I read it outloud for one of his classes when we first married, i just loved it!
I also wish i could sleep when I am tired!! Ande, enjoy that while you can!
I learned from the best!
What a delightful daughter you have. I have a feeling that it is "like mother...like daughter". Perhaps two peas in a pod? I do know that your children have indeed been blessed to have you for their mother.
Sidenote: I have started doing pictures on my blog...lst one is a wedding picture of Ned and I and the second post about my four grandchildren who graduated from Frontier last week. Hope to do more pictures soon.
I love Ande's laugh!
Ohhhhhh - that makes me want some lessons from Ande - it's been too long!
I love this. And I think she is the lucky one to have your preaching following her!
What a great post! and a great daughter!
A great pair! Both of you have plenty to teach each other. I'd love to follow all your teaching, you are wise! I miss you.
That's so interesting that you've been a teacher for her in all those different capacities. I was just thinking the other day about how grateful I am to be serving in the primary presidency while my kids are in there because they have gotten to learn from me in a different way and have heard me share my testimony many, many times.
I think she's pretty lucky! I would love to just hang around with you, or go to your Institute class.
#5 is my favorite. Especially the spending time alone every day so you don't get cross part! Amen.
